Philippine Energy Efficiency Project
The Philippine Energy Efficiency Project is a long-term project of the Department of Energy (DOE) with the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC). The project has been pushed through a loan granted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The project is expected to implement lighting retrofits in selected government buildings, install nine (9) million Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs) in residences, implement energy efficient lighting programs, expand testing laboratory capacity and establish a fluorescent lighting recycling plant, and establish the Super ESCO (Energy Service Company) as a subsidiary of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and a certification of the operations of energy efficient buildings.
The goal of the project is to promote efficient utilization of all forms of energy, to achieve energy savings, and to reduce oil importation. It aims to make energy efficiency and conservation a way of life.
