Philippine Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project
The Philippine Efficient Lighting Market Transformation Project is being implemented by the Department of Energy (DOE) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) that aims to address the barriers to the widespread utilization of energy efficient lighting systems in the Philippines.
One of the objectives of the PELMATP is to forge partnerships with private organizations involved in the building industry, private building design and construction industry, environmental and ecological advocacy groups, all having significant interest in the promotion of green, ecologically-friendly, environmentally sage and sustainable building systems and technologies.
PHILGBC entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with DOE to support the advocacy of green practices using documents developed under PELMATP that will help:
a) Improve indoor air quality;
b) Promote energy efficiency and conservation;
c) Establish solid waste management practices;
d) Utilize green materials in all phases of the building construction; and
e) Develop a green building rating standard under Philippine environmental conditions for the purpose of advancing the aforementioned advocacies.
