The building sector, contributing to about 30-40% of global energy use and global greenhouse gas emissions, is one of the areas with the biggest potential gains for having smarter environmental and economic strategies and applications. One of these applications is the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), which is seen to have a vital role in tackling climate change.
According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, ICT applications bring environmental benefits and solutions to areas such as biodiversity, pollution reduction, and water management, which proves its immense contribution towards environmental performance improvement.
In the country, the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) is taking a leadership role to facilitate discussions and create awareness on green building tools, programs and best practices as with the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) as tools towards greening the building and construction sector.
As we share the celebration of the World Green Building Week with 80 Green Building Councils across the globe on September 19-23, 2011, PHILGBC, in partnership with Trends and Technologies, Inc. is organizing a Green Talk under the banner of Building Green entitled Green Convergence: Integrating ICT and Green Buildings on September 21, 2011 from 8:30am to 2:00pm at the Shangri-La Hotel, Makati City.
Learn from experts of green technologies, ICT applications in relation to climate change mitigation, and building design, and get to network with leaders of industry.
