The PHILGBC is an active member of international green building initiatives, and is operating under the auspices of the World Green Building Council (WGBC), a union of national Green Building Councils (GBCs) from around the world. Based in Toronto, Canada, it is the largest international organization influencing the green building marketplace representing more than 80 national GBCs. The PHILGBC works closely with the WGBC through the Asia-Pacific Network along with Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Chinese-Taipei, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The PHILGBC is a partner of the GLOBE Alliance (Global Leadership in Our Built Environment), a broad-based international action network of environmental, business, industry, financial, faith-based, academic and community organizations around the world who share a commitment to advocating for sustainable building practices as a key strategy for combating climate change. GLOBE Alliance works around the world to educate, raise awareness and generate support from global policy makers, financial institutions, and UN bodies for cost effective sustainable building practices for emissions abatement and climate adaptation.
The PHILGBC is also proud member organization of the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (IISBE), an international non-profit organization whose overall aim is to actively facilitate and promote the adoption of policies, methods and tools to accelerate the movement toward global sustainable built environment. IISBE is a partner organization of the UNEP Sustainable Building and Construction Initiative (SBCI) a group of global construction-sector firms that develops initiatives related to sustainable building.
