BERDE Training Schedules
BERDE Training Courses are being conducted by the accredited training institution of the Philippine Green Building Council: TÜV Rheinland Philippines.
BERDE 101: BERDE Awareness Course
The course shall provide the participants an overview of Green Building and its benefits, the environmental conditions and green building rating systems in the Philippines and in other countries. The highlight of the course is the presentation of the 11 categories of BERDE – Management, Land Use, Water, Energy, Transportation, Indoor Environment Quality, Materials, Emissions, Waste, Heritage Conservation and Innovation. BERDE Certification Rating Scheme and Training Education Program will also be part of this course.
BERDE 102: BERDE Professionals' Basic Training Course
The BERDE Professionals Basic Training Course is designed to provide participants robust understanding of the BERDE Green Building Rating System and prepare them to be Certified BERDE Professionals (CBP). CBPs are individuals who have the expertise to assist project proponents pursue BERDE Certification.
The 4-day course will provide an understanding of the intent, scope and requirements of each category. The BPBT course examines all the prerequisite and credits in the BERDE New Construction and Existing Building categories: management, land use, water, energy, transportation, indoor environment quality, materials, emissions, waste, heritage conservation and innovation. This course will provide understanding on the synergies among the categories.
Participants will also learn the BERDE certification process and necessary documentation. The course will start with a brief introduction on the Philippine Green Building Council and an overview of BERDE followed by an elaborate discussion of the categories and certification process.
The course is open to all who intend to have a deeper understanding of BERDE whether they plan to pursue becoming Certified BERDE Professional and Assessor or merely for educational purpose. An examination will be conducted at the end of the course. Those who pass the examination will be given the title Certified BERDE Professional.
BERDE 103: BERDE Assessor Course
The 2-day BERDE Assessor Course is designed to provide participants technical expertise in handling actual assessments during building certifications. To undergo this course, applicants must first be a Certified BERDE Professional (CBP).
Graduates of this course will be given the title Certified BERDE Assessor (CBA).
BERDE 104: Management System Tools for BERDE
The course is focused on the management tools contained in ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:2007 applicable to managing a BERDE project.
Lectures and workshops are included for participants to understand and apply the relevant management system tools to BERDE.
Similarities between BERDE and management system requirements will be highlighted.
At the end of the training, the participants are expected to be able to apply relevant management system elements of ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:2007 to manage BERDE projects, and enhance preparations for BERDE certification.
BERDE 105: Implementing Effective and Responsible Environmental Communications in Green Building Projects
As a response to the emerging public demand for greener products and services, the building industry is now implementing environmental communications programs that seeks to educate and create awareness in the market. However, there is a need for a comprehensive understanding of the issues and barriers that has challenged companies in embedding an effective environmental communications program in existing marketing campaigns. Further, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs are increasingly environmental in nature. Linking environmental and developmental concerns with the company's core message are increasingly important. This course intends to help companies "do better by doing good" to the environment.
This course will cover the following topics: Concepts & Principles of Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Communications – Concepts and Principles, Environmental Communication Strategy, Environmental Communication Activities, Marketing & Branding-Ethics, Responsible Communications, and Emerging Trends.
